Malakkappara or Malakhappara is a small hill station and tourist destination, being a border place in the Thrissur district, state of Kerala, India. This is a lesser developed area in Kerala.

The place gets its name from the Malayalam word Malakha-Para, meaning “Rock of the Angel”, referring to a popular legend among Saint Thomas Christians of central Kerala. The area consists of the tea estate owned by Tata Tea, forest area of Kerala Forest Department belonging to both Vazhachal Forest Division and Malayattur Forest Division.
Many endangered and endemic species of flora and fauna are found in the forests of Malakkappara area. There is 86 km distance from Chalakudy along the State Highway 21 via Thumboormuzhi, Athirappilly, Vazhachal, Sholayar etc. Malakkappara is 89 km distant from Pollachi via Attakatti, Valparai, Solaiyar Dam etc. Tamil Nadu is the border state of Malakkappara.
The famous Sholayar Dam is situated just 5 km away from Malakkappara, on the way to Valparai.
A small hill station surrounded by Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, Anamalai Tiger Reserve and Nelliampathy hills, Malakkapara is where the famous SholayarRiver drains. This hill station is located enroute to Athirappally from Sholayar forest. This place is one of the hot spots of tourists for its soothing climate and picture postcard valleys of tea.

How to reach?
You can either use own vehicle or can depend on public transport system. Two wheelers should be very careful in this route because of its isolated behavior.
You have two options on public transport :
1. KSRTC : Chalakkudy KSRTC operates 4 malakkapara schedules 【07.50, 12.25, 15.00, 16.50】Contact Ksrtc chalakkudy depo on 0480 2701638 for any doubts
2. Private : Thottathil Transports operates daily service between Chalakkudy and Valparai, via Malakkappara.
Fare : ₹80/- one side.
